Medina County has Antique Fever
If you drive around the area, you’ll find that Medina County does, in fact, have antique fever with all of our out-of-the-way country shoppes and antique/collectibles establishments. So for the antique aficionado, you’ll be right at home. In case you can’t find all of the out-of-the-way places, Medina County has two antique malls which make your search easier and often more profitable.
Brothers Antique Mall, located at 6132 Wooster Pike (Route 3), south of Medina, has been a staple of the Medina County antique scene for more than eleven years. With over 50 dealers and a wide range of items, Brothers has something for everyone. Their prices stay low because their dealers are not charged commission. Thus the dealer gives you his best price. By appointment, the store manager will show you through the 6,000 square foot facility and answer any questions you might have. A Furniture Restoration shop on the premises boasts skilled craftsmen available to help you. Call us at 330.723.7580 for more information.
Another collection of antique shops just waiting for you is the Medina Antique Mall. New in 1997, this collection of antique dealers features a facility that’s “not your typical antique mall”. The feelings of cleanliness, quality and attention to details for customers’ convenience make you aware that this truly is “The Premier Antique Mall in the Country”. The floor area, which is 52,000 square feet, houses 350 dealers considered the “best of the best”. The wide carpeted aisles allow room to wander through the diverse collection of unique antiquities. Add to this the easy access from I-71 and the huge parking lot, plus the concept of one-stop shopping, really promotes visiting the mall on a regular basis. The location is just 1/4 mile east of I-71 (Exit 218) and Route 18. The mall is air conditioned and is on one complete floor.

Recipes
Marmalade Chicken for Two
1/2 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon orange marmalade
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
8 ounces chicken tenders
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, divided
1 large shallot, minced
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
Whisk broth, vinegar, marmalade, mustard and cornstarch in medium bowl. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. Heat 2 teaspoons oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm. Add the remaining 1 teaspoon oil and shallot to the pan and cook, stirring often, until beginning to brown, about 30 seconds. Whisk the broth mixture and add it to the pan. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer; cook until the sauce is slightly reduced and thickened, 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Add the chicken, return to a simmer. Cook, turning once, until the chicken is heated through, about 1 minute. Remove from the heat and stir in orange zest.

Hasselback Potatoes
2 small baking potatoes
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/3 cup chicken stock
1/4 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1 1/2 tablespoon finely grated hard cheese, such as parmesan
1 tablespoon fine dry bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Peel potatoes. Cut each potato not quite through in a series of crosswise slices about 1/4-inch apart or closer so that they are still joined together at the bottom. Brush the potatoes with the melted butter and place in a small baking pan. Pour the chicken stock around the potatoes and sprinkle with thyme leaves. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and roast until the potatoes are half cooked, 25 to 30 minutes, basting every 5 minutes with the butter-chicken stock mixture. In a small bowl, combine the grated cheese and bread crumbs and divide the mixture evenly between the tops of the two potatoes. Continue roasting without any further basting until the potatoes are crispy on the outside and cooked through, about 30 minutes. Exact cooking time will depend on the size of the potatoes.
